Back online ... Internet has been restored!

After a brief and unexpected break from blogging due to a lack of Internet connection, I am finally back online. It turns out that, contrary to my prior expectations, the Wifi network that is supposed to be universally accessible across all university campuses across the world - eduroam - did not work for either my phone or my laptop. So I was more or less cut off from the Internet until today, when I finally and officially registered as a student of HKUST! Here is a picture of my brand new, shiny student ID card:
This is definitely the first time I've ever seen a vertical student card. Perhaps HKUST is going for the traditional vertical Chinese look, especially since the characters "科大卡" are placed at the prominent upper-right corner.

Breakfast of 煎蛋腸仔通粉 and 奶茶 (Egg and Sausage Macaroni with Milk Tea) from the LG7 Cafeteria

Lunch of 兩餸飯:蒜蓉通菜、洋蔥雞柳 and 普洱茶 (Rice with Tung Choi and Onion Chicken with Pu'erh Tea) also from the LG7 Cafeteria
Here are some of the beautiful shots I took of Clear Water Bay from my residence's common room in the morning:

The Lee Shau Kee Library at HKUST was also hosting an exhibition on Chinese calligraphy called "Confucian, Buddhist & Taoist Selections -- An Exhibition of The Jiazi Society of Calligraphy" when I visited. Personally, I only consider myself to be dabbler in Chinese calligraphy so I completely disliked some styles - but here are some shots of the ones I liked the best:

Washing machine instructions for UG Hall II, written in colloquial Cantonese just to confound Mainland and foreign students - good thing I know how to read it!

And here are more morning shots of Clear Water Bay from my common room - sometimes don't the views just remind you of those 山水畫 ("Mountain and Water Paintings") of classical Chinese art?
